SARK UCS/MVP Release Status

The current stable SAIL release is SAIL-2.2.4-x

The current developement releases are SAIL-2.4.1.x and SAIL-2.5.1.x.

Sail-2.2.4 is the last of the Asterisk Zaptel releases. If you wish to stay with Zaptel and Asterisk pre 1.4.23 then you can install the 2.2.4 release series; this is essentially a "backport and patch" continuation of the 2.2.1-xxx line. At the moment, we backport most new features into 2.2.x but the plan is to gradually stabilize this release as DAHDI comes on stream in the 1.4.23 and higher asterisk releases.

SAIL-2.4.x was developed for DAHDI Asterisk releases between than 1.4.23 and 1.4.28 on SME 7.x.

SAIL-2.5.x was devloped for DAHDI Asterisk releases higher than 1.4.29 on SME 7.x and 8.x. 2.5 was developed in response to the fact that Digium made big changes to their directory structures in 1.4.29.

Which SAIL rpm should I install ?

It depends upon which SME and asterisk releases you have. There have been two major changes to Asterisk since the release of 1.4. First, Digium released the DAHDI driver to replace Zaptel in 1.4.23 and then they changed the directory structures in 1.4.29. In amongst all of this, the SME devlopers have been moving from CentOS4? to CentOS5? .

so - here is a suggested setup

for new installers.-

If you have SME 7.4 or 7.5 - use Asterisk release between 1.4.23 and 1.4.28 and install the latest sail-2.4.1 release.

If you have SME 8.0 - use Asterisk release 1.4.29 or higher and sail-2.5.1 release

For existing installs.-

If you have SME7.4 or earlier - use Asterisk release 1.4.21 and sail-2.2.4 release.
